Event Description: Addressing the Climate Crisis is an urgent concern, especially at this time, with our government at the federal and state levels in the hands of climate change deniers and delayers. To demonstrate broad concern, we invite you to join together with caring neighbors from throughout mid-Missouri for Walk for the Climate, a Rally and 5K walk to be held on the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 8. This event will raise awareness as to the urgent need to address the climate crisis. We will gather, rally and then walk as a group through downtown CoMo and the MU campus, carrying signs and banners. Please note: Gathering will be at Courthouse Plaza., 8th & Walnut in downtown CoMo. Registration opens at 1:00. There will be live music from Band of Brothers as we gather. Please plan to arrive no later than 1:30. We will have a short rally and then head out for the Walk at 2 p.m. This event is organized by Mid-Missouri Peaceworks and co-sponsored by the Osage Group of Sierra Club and the League of Women Voters of Columbia/Boone County, Citizens Climate Lobby of Columbia and Jefferson City and Renew Missouri.
