Appalachian Reforestation at Fishtrap Lake

Date: Mar 23, 2012 at 6:00pm to Mar 24, 2012 at 8:00pm
This abandoned mine site is an old mountaintop removal operation in the Fishtrap Lake watershed in Pike Co (southeast of Pikeville, KY). This is part of the Appalachian Regional Reforestation Initiative (ARRI), a collaborative effort of different state and federal agencies as well as non-profits focused on the reforestation of surface mined lands throughout Appalachia. We will literally plant thousands of native hardwood seedlings on Saturday! No experience is necessary and all the equipment (and trees) is provided. This has been a very popular project the past few years and we’ve have really enjoyed working all the ARRI folks!
