This workshop explores the different styles of leadership that are found in culturally-conscious community engagement. Students will engage in personal introspection and critical thinking activities to examine what leadership style plays to their natural strengths and empowers them to give back to their communities. They will also be given strategies on how to mobilize others according to common interests while considering a wide spectrum of intersectional identities. The session gives particular emphasis to anti-saviorism work, advocacy, conflict-resolution, grassroots empowerment, and the ladder of citizen participation model.
