Civil Discourse Forum: A Nation in Crisis: Are Guns the Problem?

Date: Sep 23, 2022 at 11:00am to 12:30pm
This event has been convened as part of the Center for Ethics and Human Values' Civil Discourse for Citizenship Initiative, which provides opportunities for students to engage in vigorous and respectful discussion anchored by "the 4Cs": Be Curious, Be Charitable, Be Conscientious, Be Constructive. The forum will feature a conversation between two guest panelists with opposing viewpoints on gun control: Michael Huemer (Professor of Philosophy, University of Colorado Boulder) and Robert J. Spitzer (Distinguished Service Professor of Political Science Emeritus, State University of New York at Cortland). The panel discussion will be moderated by two of CEHV's undergraduate Civil Discourse Fellows: Morgan Gibbs (Journalism and Public Policy) and Jacob Scheinblum (Philosophy, Politics and Economics and Chinese). For Credit: Take a picture of yourself at the event and send a short reflection to apo.leadership.ai@gmail.com talking about the event and what you learned/took away from it.
