ASC: Speaker Event: Innovation at P&G - A Technologis Journey at P&G

Date: Sep 21, 2022 at 3:30pm to 5:00pm
On Wednesday, September 21, Mark Sivik will discuss his nearly 30 years at P&G highlighting technical work in Fabric & Home Care including development of technologies to soften fabric, catalyst to bleach stains and clean in automatic dishwasher detergents, clean grease soils in hand dishwashing formulations and more recently our studies with NASA to develop detergent formulation for closed loop systems that can be reapplied for everyday consumer use where resource constraints exist. The examples are all built on the foundation of a PhD in chemistry and a developed expertise in synthetic chemistry, surfactant science, physical chemistry, biodegradation, analytical methods and commercialization. This session will also allow for open dialogue regarding careers in industry at a company like P&G. Speaker Biography: Mark Sivik graduated from The Ohio State University in 1992 with a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry. Dr. Sivik is currently a Research Fellow at Procter & Gamble (P&G) working in the Strategic Innovation and Technology division for Fabric and Home Care. Since joining P&G in 1992, Mark has worked on new technologies such as softener actives, bleach activators, metal catalysts, pro-perfumes, surfactants, polymers, hueing dyes, and deposition actives. His experience spans molecular design, synthesis, models and mechanisms of functional actives, biodegradable actives, functional fibers and films, program strategies, intellectual propriety, and commercialization of technologies.
