A decorated photographer, avid mountaineer, and climate change researcher, Balog is the founder of the Extreme Ice Survey (EIS), the most wide-ranging photographic study of glaciers ever conducted. A stunning new concept is shattering the inherited assumptions of modern science: humans are the dominant agents of change on our planet today. This idea is as revolutionary as those of Newton, Darwin and Einstein -- yet few outside the scientific vanguard know about it. This spectacular show juxtaposes erupting volcanoes with retreating Himalayan glaciers, melting Arctic permafrost with portraits of America’s largest trees, endangered wildlife with an extreme cave diving expedition beneath ancient Mayan temples. James Balog inspires with a provocative new way of thinking about the world today and tomorrow.
