Despite overwhelming support from community members, endorsements from local organizations, and a majority vote by City Council, Mayor Miro Weinberger chose to veto the proposal and prevent Burlington citizens from voting on it themselves. As frustrating as this is, there is still a path forward. Join Tyler Pastorok and Nell Carpenter from People for Police Accountability to review the proposal and learn how a petition can bring this proposal to a vote in the fall of 2021. We'll make plenty space for discussion, questions, and feedback pertaining to the proposal and the context for it in Burlington and around the US.
