Card-making for Cancer Patients

Date: Mar 2, 2020 at 9:30am to Mar 6, 2020 at 6:30pm
For Colorectal Cancer, Kidney Cancer, and Multiple Myeloma Awareness month, we are going to be having an ongoing card-making service event. According to the Send a Smile Today website, these handmade cards will be sent to individuals with cancer who sign up to receive uplifting greeting cards once a month to provide hope, love, and support for patients, and to let them know they are not alone. For more information about the organization, check out https://sendasmiletoday.org/get-involved/. Make the cards at the SGA desk during Sophia or Cara's office hours (9:30-10:30 Mondays and Wednesdays, and 1-3 PM on Wednesdays) or pick up the cardstock materials to take with you and drop them off at the desk with a sticky note with your name when you are done so we can log your hours. As you are making the cards, please follow the guidelines at the link https://sendasmiletoday.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Card-Making-Guidelines-061018-PDF.pdf ; if you can't think of something to write, they have plenty of suggestions on this sheet as well. For service hours, we are having the standard 1 card = 15 minutes, with a maximum of two hours possible for the week. For the sign up sheet shifts, just sign up for the number of shifts equal to the number of cards you are planning on making!
