WHAT: Donating blood to the blood bank!
WHY: This week there is an emergency need for blood donations. The blood you donate goes towards different medical needs depending on what type you donate. According to the Red Cross website, "Whole blood is frequently given to trauma patients and people undergoing surgery," "Red cells from a Power Red donation are typically given to trauma patients, newborns and emergency transfusions during birth, people with sickle cell anemia, and anyone suffering blood loss," and "Platelets are a vital element of cancer treatments and organ transplant procedures, as well as other surgical procedures."
MAKE SURE TO SIGN UP to donate on the Red Cross website, and let me know in the comments what type of blood you donated, so I can give you the right number of credits:
