Meet at HAB @ 4:20pm, leave at 4:30pm Our Family Learning Nights are free for the city of Poughkeepsie pre-school students and families who are part of our grant-funded field trip program. Many of these families are low-income, or single parent homes although not all of them are. The April events are about Health and Nutrition. The events run from 5:30-7:30 (volunteers will need to arrive at 5:00 pm for a tour and to get their station). Volunteers will run mini-activity stations for the families from 5:30-6:30 pm. Each station features an info card for parents with ideas they can do at home to support their child. At 6:30 the volunteers help supervise the children playing in our exhibits while the parents meet to discuss the night’s topic.There will be food provided for the families. Volunteers are welcome to have some after all families have eaten. When the Volunteers arrive they just can come in and sign in at the front desk. Peter will be running the evening and he will go over details at 5 pm with everyone.
