** NEW MEMBERS SIGN UP HERE The primary goal is to educate/communicate with Higher Ed students on what the Census entails and it’s importance so that they can participate or encourage their families to participate in the 2020 Census. The secondary goal is to collect pledges for the Census. If a student is willing to pledge, they are only pledging that they will try and fill out the Census. We would like to ask you to contact 20 people through social media, iMessage, etc. (preferably UC Merced students). You can request for them to pledge and if they agree to do so, they will send a code (UCMcounts) to a phone number (209) 439 - 8141. We found that if you send a long message, people may think it is a scam so you can send this message: " I am working with UC Merced and the Cuenta Conmigo Coalition (a regional group of nonprofits); I am organizing a pledge drive for the Census and with the Cuenta Conmigo Coalition. I am gathering pledges for the Census; the pledge is just saying that you pledge you are going to try and fill out the census. Can you please text the code: UCMcounts/ wecount to the phone number: (209)439-8141. It should ask your full name, and zip code. It’s a pledge that you will try and fill out the census."
