Chancellor's Dialogue on Diversity and Interdisciplinarity

Date: Sep 25, 2019 at 12:00pm to 1:30pm
Please join us tomorrow (Sept. 25) from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the California Room for the Chancellor's Dialogue on Diversity and Interdisciplinarity, featuring Gina Garcia, author of Becoming Hispanic-Serving Institutions: Opportunities for Colleges and Universities. A Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) is defined as an institution of higher education with at least 25 percent of its enrolled undergraduates identifying as Hispanic. UC Merced has been an HSI since 2010. In the book, Garcia provides evidence of how HSIs are unique based on empirical data collected in a study of three Chicago-based HSIs. During her campus talk, Garcia will encourage audience members to think about what Hispanic-serving status means for individual colleges and universities. Everyone on campus is encouraged to attend.
