It is a time to acknowledge the children who survived the Indian residential school system and those who did not. September 30th is more than simply wearing an orange shirt, it is about listening and learning about Indigenous peoples' experiences and history. But equally important, reconciliation requires reconcili-ACTION, it requires allies to continue the deep work of acknowledging your own privilege and a continued self-awareness of your own internalized prejudice and implicit basis.
