| Date: Apr 17, 2019 at 5:30pm to 9:30pm | |
The University Police will be offering two Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) courses this semester. This is a 12 hour Women’s Self-Defense program that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. The course culminates with a dynamic simulation that gives participants the opportunity to use what they have learned in realistic training scenarios against “aggressors†wearing special safety equipment.
WHAT IS "R.A.D"?
The Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D) System is a Self-Defense program for women. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands on training. The course culminates with a dynamic simulation. Simulation gives the participants the opportunity to use what they have learned in realistic training scenarios against "aggressors" wearing specifically designed safety equipment. The R.A.D. system is taught at many colleges and universities. Its simplicity and effectiveness have made it rapidly growing and widespread system of defense. R.A.D. teaches women easy and effective self-defense tactics for use against various types of assault. The system provides participants the knowledge to make an educated decision about resistance. *R.A.D. IS NOT A MARTIAL ARTS PROGRAM!*
WHY R.A.D.?
R.A.D. Systems is:
- The largest network of its kind with over 11,000 instructors receiving training in our systems to date. These instructors teach at various colleges, universities, and municipal law enforcement agencies as well as various other community organizations internationally.
- The only existing program with a free lifetime return and practice policy, honored worldwide.
- Has developed specialized simulation techniques and equipment for use by certified R.A.D. instructors.
- The only self- defense program ever endorsed by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) National Academy of Defense Education, the National Self-Defense Institute (NSDI) and Redman Training Gear.
