Volunteers are needed to help prepare weekly groceries for our programs every Wednesday at SOME's dining room located at 71 O Street, NW. Opened as a small soup kitchen in 1970, we meet the immediate daily needs of the people we serve with food, clothing, and health care. We help break the cycle of homelessness by offering services, such as affordable housing, job training, addiction treatment, and counseling, to the poor, the elderly and individuals with mental illness. In addition to the hot meals we serve daily in our Dining Room, we also distribute weekly groceries to our many programs and houses year round. We can accommodate individuals and groups of up to 5 people. Volunteers must be at least 13 years of age. Volunteers between the ages of 13-15 must have adult supervision.
