Join us on Saturdays from 1-3pm during Filipinx American History Month. Learn about the Filipino language and culture with us. Attend one or all the sessions. Just bring tools to take notes. We will provide everything else! October 9: Travel -Learn the basic words and phrases needed to travel in the Philippines. Be able to find the bathroom, get around in the airport, navigate a city, etc. Then, learn about the role of religion; many Filipino houses will have images of crosses and other religious paraphernalia. Christmas is a big deal for some Filipino families. Make a parol with us. Parol is a traditional Filipino Christmas star decoration. October 16: Love -Learn the basic words and phrases needed for dating. Learn to ask someone out. Learn how to do “small talk” in Tagalog. Then, learn about and practice a traditional Filipino dance. October 23: Expletives -“Gosh darn it all!” Want to learn how to say that in Tagalog? This session will teach you to express your feelings. Then, learn about and play a traditional Filipino game.
