Prompt #2:
Blindspot
The saying, “You learn something new everyday†can have both a positive and a negative connotation. Positive being that, yes, constant learning empowers a person in many ways. Negative in which that means that everybody you meet (even yourself) is guaranteed to come with a certain level of ignorance. And that isn’t always a bad thing. Not everyone can know everything at once, not everyone grows up the same way and pace. For example, before I (LVP) started college, I wasn’t aware of the importance of pronouns and the proper usage between other people. I’ve learned identity is key to forming a happy soul, and it’s painless and free to simply change a habit. It was a blindspot, a mistake I was constantly overlooking. Email leadership@aposdsu.org (with the subject line: Prompt #2) what your blindspots are, what you can do to reduce them, blindspot experiences, etc . Try to refrain from academic blindspots (e.g. I am a biochemistry major, but I’m not familiar with Greek History). Are you aware of how your life, your friends, society is changing? How are you progressing to be more knowledgeable about these changes?
