McCormick Springs Invasive Removal

Date: Sep 6, 2021 at 9:00am to 11:00am
We'll return to work making space for new plantings at the McCormick Springs area of Walnut Springs. We've uncovered a lovely little spring and surrounding areas and want to open more views and make room for even more native plantings. Come Labor with us on this holiday MEET: on Walnut Spring Lane just east of University Dr., where there is a field of stakes and green tubes. We’ll cross over to the trail that goes downstream on the left of the creek in this beautiful spot by the bridge. SUPPLIES: Dress to get dirty. Waterproof footwear, gloves, and shovel, and loppers are a plus. We can also provide. If the weather is too wet, Greg will cancel. Call to confirm. We’ll be observing social distancing. THE PROJECT: Over the last 3 years, we removed invasive plants & planted 300 NATIVE PLANTS, like this maple leaf viburnum, which supports local fauna in the marsh. We’re preparing spaces for new planting, in early October.
